Appointed by Chairman in 2015 and became Acting COO, then officially became COO/Acting CEO in May 2016, with the aim of establishing platforms and structures to support rapid growth, led corporate restructuring and supported five high-flying graduates to drive the business forward. Revolutionised F&B within Emaar Hospitality Group with the launch of a 24 hr high-end hospitality restaurant concept, developed a mid-market offering into the successful launch of ‘Rove’, and shaped/executed the digital strategy including the rollout of MS Dynamics and new mobile apps. Successfully launched The Address Boulevard, designed the ‘Rove Home’ concept with studio apartments for long-stay guests, and appointed as Managing Director of Emaar Hospitality Development in Egypt, aimed at driving growth of the brand outside of the United Arab Emirates.
Directed all General Managers across Lifestyle, Leisure, Events and Quality/Brand for 3 leisure clubs, 2 restaurants, 8 owner-managed hotels and 28 signed management contracts ($200m T/O), headed up the restructuring of the corporate office and advocated a lean structure. Instigated an intensive review of talent onboarding process, engaged US Company to benchmark all management structures, overhauled recruitment of GMs to encourage diversity, this transformed the approach to recruitment, and included the use of psychometric testing during selection process.
During this period, initially joined as Complex General Manager Mauritius/Area Manager Indian Ocean, then moved on to Project Manager for Sheraton Madagascar, and then part of Regional Task Force in Gambia and Nigeria, involved in driving renovations, internal audits and development of sustainable business models. As Complex General Manager Mauritius and Area Manager Indian Ocean, accountable for management of Four Points by Sheraton Cybercity, The Grand Mauritian, The Regis Mauritius and Le Meridien lle Maurice.
Drove $26m renovation, re-branding and positioning of hotel operating under a Radisson Franchise Agreement, hotel awarded ‘Hotel of the Year’ in 2006, and grew revenue from Rs.230m to Rs.700m, with GOP of 50%.
