As part of Evolve's commitment to support the local design community and following my passion for teaching, I served as an external member of the search committee to find a chair for the newly founded MA in Industrial Design program at Oregon's College of Art and Craft. Additionally I was part of the adjunct faculty during the first semester to help develop the curriculum and give an insight into Evolve's human centered design approach.
The internationally recognized and award-winning Industrial Design Program at SJSU provides an education infused with the ideas, methods and expertise of the leading edge design industry in Silicon Valley. As assistant professor (tenure track) I've co-developed the curriculum and taught studios as well as design foundations for the BS degree program. My research work was focused on modern high-end manufacturing processes and manufacturing in the USA.
Wrapped in style! feltbags makes sleeves for iPhones, iPads and MacBooks. Our products are entirely made in Southern Germany. We focus on small numbers and preserve our handcrafted appeal. Every feltbag is a unique handmade product that was cut, sewn and finished by local craft people, using mostly local materials. We are maintaining a sustainable business approach and try to optimize our process every day.
The Product Design Program in the University of Oregon's School of Architecture and Allied Arts provides a thorough grounding in the use, invention and production of consumer products. It integrates the theories and applied practices of the art, architecture and design disciplines. As adjunct professor I've co-developed the curriculum and taught senior product design studios for the BFA degree program at the Portland campus.
Ziba Design is an internationally recognized design consultancy that helps companies create meaningful ideas, designs and experiences that consumers crave. As Principal Designer, I was responsible for translating brand identity and consumer insights into design direction for Ziba’s project teams, and leading them as they develop these concepts into coherent product lines. My clients included Best Buy, Masco, P&G, Samsung, Sharp and Wacom.
As Senior Designer at Ziba my responsibilities included a combination of leading, developing and articulating industrial design concepts, providing guidance, mentoring and direction to the team and lead client meetings and presentations. I was largely responsible for developing the brand of long-time Ziba client SiriusXM into a set of design guidelines and attributes, and using these to create an ecosystem of products, services and online experiences that have helped build them into one of the largest subscription media services in the US. Other clients included Baxter, Lexmark, Memorex, Nike, P&G, Philips-Respironics and Wacom.
Sparq Design is a full service design network founded by Jan Hippen in Hamburg, Germany. As collaborative partner my responsibilities included creative leadership, developing and articulating design concepts, being the main point of contact for many of my clients and helping to develop corporate design and internal structures for Sparq Design and its satellite offices. My clients included Dunlop, High-Def, Testo and VW.
As part of the project group re-designing the single aisle cabin experience for the A320 family aircrafts, I was responsible for developing and articulating design concepts within a team of lead designers, CAD specialists and engineers reporting to the Airbus Design Studio in Toulouse, France.
