Cindy Baer's current jobs
I travel to various filmmaker oriented trade shows, festivals and organizations across the country (such as Sundance, SXSW, IFP New York, LA Film Festival, CES, NAB, Cinegear, HD Expo, MacWorld, Video Maker, Associated Press, etc...) speaking about the professional and practical use of Canon cameras in filmmaking. I also teach film-making classes at Canon Burbank on topics such as producing, film festival strategy and fundraising. Additionally I've written technical articles for the Canon Live Learning Center.
I was actively involved in every aspect of creating two award-winning feature films, five shorts, two music videos and several "behind the scenes" documentaries from conception through final delivery. www.FreeDreamPictures.com The comedy feature ODD BRODSKY, that I directed, produced, co-wrote and edited was honored to have it's World Premiere at the prestigious 36th Annual Mill Valley Film Festival --alongside a slate of Academy Award Winning films. It has since screened in 30 festivals, won 20 festival awards, appeared on several year-end "Best Film" lists by reviewers, and is 100% "Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes. Available on VOD. www.oddbrodsky.com My directorial debut PURGATORY HOUSE is said to have marked the beginning of the democratization of film in 2001, having been a feature-length production that was entirely written by a high school freshman, recorded using miniDV cameras, edited on home computers and finally made its way to the mainstream audiences of video stores including Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. It screened at 25 film festivals across the country, won 13 Festival Awards (including "Best Director", "Best Production", and multiple awards for "Best Feature" and "Audience Choice"), 2 Prism Award Nominations, and appeared on 7 critic's lists for "Best Film of the Year" before being distributed by Image Entertainment, which is one of the largest DVD distributors in North America. I also produced, directed and starred in the critically acclaimed short MORBID CURIOSITY which screened at 28 great festivals (including Fantastic Fest) and won 4 Audience Awards. My short film STALKED came in at #4 on HD Shorts/Direct TV's countdown of its Best Films of the Year.
I appear on filmmaking panels across the country speaking as an expert on low-budget filmmaking at film festivals such as Provincetown, Mill Valley, Dances With Films, Hollyshorts, Vimeo and LaFemme, and organizations including the California Film Commission, Scriptwriter’s Network, Screenwriting Expo and the Screen Actor’s Guild. In addition, I've been a judge for the Cine Eagle Awards, Valley Film Festival and the 48 hour film festival. I am also on the Selections Committee for the Entertainment Industry Council's Annual Prism Awards, which honor television and film programming that makes a positive difference in the world by accurately portraying the effects of drug and alcoholic addiction in the media. The awards show takes place every April, and is telecast on the FX Network.
I work privately with film industry clients to: target long-term goals and create action plans, define specific tasks assignments, implement timelines, and bring careers or projects to the next level. I've also created financial strategies that have successfully allowed my clients to become free of financial debts.
Cindy Baer's past jobs
I conceived and created POTA as a California non-profit organization that helps emerging filmmakers & artists create new works and connect with their audiences. I successfully guided hundreds of filmmakers in building unique crowdfunding campaigns and finding sponsorship opportunities that allowed them to green-light their own projects.
I was hired to help transition an extensive YouTube library of over 2,000 College Humor videos to the new sVOD platforms. Reviewed content and coordinated all necessary clearances, flagging potential issues for the legal dept. Reorganized and transferred extensive online and offline categorization system from Dropbox to Google Drive, which included hundreds of episodes of content.
I was the Artistic Director, CFO and Producing Parter for The Mosaic Theatre Company, a California non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit company, whose mission was to inspire children to create art, music and theatre, as an alternative to negative outlets. These uplifting variety type shows utilized short stories, dance, song, music, poetry and art. They focused on such topics as; self esteem, individuality, tolerance, compassion and self-expression. Children were introduced to theater and art as a creative and emotional outlet, providing an alternative to violence, gangs, addictions, and harmful forms of expression. I also produced and starred in the critically acclaimed 30th Anniversary Production of Leanard Gershe's "Butterflies are Free" at the prestigious Matrix Theater in Hollywood.
As a part of the programming committee, I helped to select the films chosen to screen at the historic Leammle Theater on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. In the past she helped with the marketing and expansion of the festival, including sponsorship and social networking.
At the age of 22, I created one of the most successful children's entertainment companies in the Southern California area, which employed over 50 actors and facilitated up to 40 events per week. Clients included Diane Keaton, Mel Harris, Hunter Tylo, Ozzy Osbourne, Tawny Kitaen, Oscar De La Hoya, Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver, Andy Garcia, and Steven Spielberg. The company was sold in December of 2000, and still thrives today. Skills included party planning for groups of 5 to 500, booking, billing, accounting and payroll, coordinating extensive schedules, executing unique themes, purchasing and maintaining 150+ costumes, subcontracting outside equipment, creating and implementing advertising, recruiting and training performers, customer care.
