Grew responsibility from a single team to leadership of the Engineering department (75 people at its height), including cloud infrastructure, marketing technology, application development, supply chain, finance, data engineering, and data science enablement. Drove reduction in software spend from $8.8M (FY'22) to $4.9M (FY'23). This included renegotiation of contracts, consolidation of services, and reducing AWS spend from an annual run rate of $3M down to $465k. Identified need and drove tech automation of TikTok channel order management and inventory sync, reducing the manual effort by over 150 person days per month, and enabling the channel to scale from zero to an MRR of over $1M in under three months. Drove adoption of common framework for operationalizing ML-based pricing, keyword bidding, and inventory replenishment. The keyword bidding engine, developed simultaneously with the core framework, resulted in an 11% increase in gross revenue and 5% increase in contribution profit. GlobaLinguist was an online language learning startup that focused on teaching language students vocabulary through a variety of online drills. I developed the website, entered the data, made the cold calls, and sold into a variety of top universities and government agencies. In 2006 I took on a partner, $1.3M in angel funding, and built out a team. We shut our doors after the financial meltdown.
