Taking a small step back to "Engineer" without all the other fancy titles, this role has allowed me to focus on honing my skills in software and reliability engineering. As part of the Merchant Experience team for our global BNPLaaS platform, I have been focused mainly on service uptime, reliability and feature and enhancement work. As the SRE for our team, I've taken it upon myself to revamp our monitoring, alerting and response automation such that known issues are identified resolved without as much onus on 24/7 support staff. Tools used include Datadog, Azure DevOps, Azure Portal and supporting tools to ensure Merchant service are running smoothly. This role has been fully remote, and as such has allowed me to be far more present in the day to day activities of my family (including a new arrival). Given I'm now based in country Victoria, Remote and flexible work opportunities are a must for me.
