Developer Designer Product Owner
In an effort to enhance the web experience for existing customers, Liquid Web gave me the honor to jump back into the fold as an independent contractor. My role on the project was to define the direction and visual language, in coordination with their in-house development resources.
Though hired to aid in automated regression testing, my role in the organization quickly shifted to offering usability consulting, interface design, graphic design, and front-end development. I spent most of my time offering guidance on the visual language of our interfaces, both public and internal, as well as refining and refactoring the payment paths. My process involved the use of wireframing and mockups via Sketch and extended into development and delivery. Our teams relied on stakeholder interview and iterative design to determine acceptance. We built primarily in vanilla JS with JQuery, HTML with Mason templates, and CSS compiled from both Less and Sass. All work was managed on private git repositories and tracked through Jira. I also occasionally worked directly on Salesforce applications in a design and development capacity.
I designed aesthetic and functional mockups of in-house products covering all functions and catering to all audiences. By conducting usability tests, I continually improved upon designs in an iterative process which involved close collaboration with IT and business teams. Between projects, I researched and documented best practices while establishing corporate-level guidelines. Designs were built using a variety of tools from static Photoshop and Balsamiq mockups, to interactive Axure prototypes with reusable libraries. Usability studies were conducted with the use of screen-recording software along with picture-in-picture face capture to study both user activity and response. Each design iteration underwent no fewer than five user studies, followed by design team and stakeholder review.
I planned and wrote automated test scripts for the Commercial Web Lines Pega products while overseeing the standards and common functions of the automation team. Using Quick Test Pro, I wrote data-driven VBscript to execute complex scenarios which were highly configurable and reusable across multiple environments.
