Having completed a 2 year Graduate scheme with Styles & Wood where I have worked on Key Projects for Lloyds Bank Group & Manchester City FC, I have decided to continue my personal development over the next 6 months by focussing on the Commercial Sector of the business. My Goal is to develop into a well-rounded designer who can add value to either Commercial & Retail Projects – providing creative solutions and exceeding Client expectations I am currently working on a number of Key projects for a FTSE 100 Blue Chip Company, looking at a new innovative solutions to banking while producing drawings from feasibility all the way through to Construction and detailing.
During my 2 years on the Graduate Scheme at Styles & Wood I worked in a small yet growing dynamic design team. I undertoke a key role working primarily as a Retail Space Designer, specialising in the Banking Sector and working with large clients including Lloyds TSB and HBOS. My design remit was to deliver designs for; pilot schemes, full refurbishment, roll outs and new acquisition schemes. I was also selected to work with another key client (Manchester City Football Club) to be involved in three schemes moving from initial design concepts right through to space planning, interior design, branding, technical drawings and handover with client. This was a great opportunity to be seconded and based on site, where I was on hand to meet any demands the client may have had during the entire process. This not only allowed me to liase with the client at any time, but also have major design input into the schemes and manage my time extremely well when dealing with subcontractors. Other; - I identified and successfully delivered a project to redesign and build a website for the Companys Graduate Scheme. - I presented a proposal to enhance the existing scheme to aid recruitment, reduce attrition and act as a support tool for existing Graduates. - I am a keen photographer - I enjoy all aspects of design from web sites to clothing and I maintain an active interest in marketing and advertising.
I spent four months covering a maternity leave vacancy. In this time I supported the transformation of the office environment by not only designing and launching a new internal intranet site "Barclays Professionals" but also put my architecture skills to good use by redesigning the visual identify and layout of the office. On a day to day basis I would be given numerous design led tasks that had strict deadlines, while still achieving my daily and weekly deliverables. I designed and produced Branded Communications for an audience of 500 people providing key information in a timely and engaging way. My communication designs were approved, produced and then used as a medium for visual communication across the three Barclays Business sites in the UK (Manchester, Nottingham & Birmingham).
I spent a week during my final year at University gaining experience & helping the team with current Architectural projects (Producing CAD drawings, sketching initial concept ideas & attending meetings both on site & with clients)
Prior to starting my degree, I organised a placement to understand the roles within design and architecture. I had the opportunity to observe and work with two senior Architects, whilst undertaking training on CAD (Revit). I also completed a customer led brief to a set deadline
