The F5 SIRT Security Engineer is security experts that are dedicated resources responsible for responding to F5 product security incidents. As Senior Enterprise Network Engineer (ENE), interfacing directly with Product Development, provide escalations support to the 2nd line Global Support and Field Services teams. My key focus is F5 security/accelereation product/solution: - Web application security manager(ASM) - Network firewall security manager(AFM) - BIG-IQ security/cloud - Network/application DDoS protection solution - DNS security - WebSafe antifraud solution - Application acceleration manager(AAM) - LB/GSLB high avialabiblity solution etc. As a member of F5 security response team (SRT), support F5 service groups handling potential security issues concerning F5 products and their use. This includes but not limited to customer's security issue, attack mitigation, questions on CVE's and their applicability to our products as well as vulnerabilities found by external researchers in the F5 products and platforms themselves; Initiate security action from various sources by creating/following SRs, Lead and mornitor through completion, engagement with PD and ASKF5 to create appropriate security advisory/notification content. Provide SRT mentoring to F5 support group. The role involves detailed lab reproductions and synthesised versions of customer applications as well as live security threat response, managing customer expectations and stepping in to high profile customer issues.
As Enterprise Network Engineer (ENE), interfacing directly with Product Development, provide escalation support to the 2nd line Global Support and Field Services teams for following products: ASM, WAM, LTM, GTM, EM, etc. One of my key focus during this period is web application security. As an ASM escalation ENE, a role that demands both an in-depth understanding of networking technologies at layer 4 through 7, and an expert knowledge of the challenges of providing Application Security in a Web2.0 and Web Services environment. This requires an in depth understanding of web technologies (HTTP, SSL, HTML, AJAX, XML, SOAP, JavaScript etc) and attacks and exploits centred on these technologies, how to mitigate them and how to troubleshoot the products and applications from a support perspective. Following is a list of the responsibilities of my ENE role: - Handle technical issues of any complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance. - Assist Engineers by verifying network solutions and ensuring that appropriate products and services have been selected to satisfy client requirements. - Provide Tier-3 support for the Field Services, Network Support, Consulting and Training organizations. - Work with Product Development and Product Management to ensure products are implemented in ways that meet customer requirements. - Provide support for the entire F5 product line, and all versions of software code and hardware. - Review, test and create content for F5's technical knowledgebase, AskF5 (tech.f5.com). - Be responsible for all CERT and security release alerts to customer install base while working with product development. - Handle release of PTFs (Product Temporary Fixes). - Mentor other F5 technical groups. - Direct interaction with Product Development group on behalf of all external organizations and customers
