In my role as Director of BACS Bookkeeping Pty Ltd I grew my bookkeeping business from working on my own from a home office in 2001 to now having an office in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, with a team of a dozen bookkeepers. Our aim is to empower clients around their finances by removing confusion, fear and uncertainty and replacing it with clarity, freedom and control. To do that I had to spend a significant part of my time over the past 10 years to develop systems which all the team follow. It's true that if you put 10 bookkeepers in a room you would have 10 different ways of doing the same thing. Every year I added more steps to our processes to ensure I captured and standardised every major bookkeeping process. As a result, I can guarantee the quality of the work that my team provides my clients. It was difficult finding great bookkeepers so I designed a Skills Test that they have to complete before having an interview which most applicants fail. Once accepted they undergo intensive training to learn the Pure Bookkeeping System and "best practices" in the industry. I've taken these systems which I have developed with the guidance and direction of Pete Cook (Thought Leader, mentor and my business partner) and we travel Australia delivering the Seven Secrets of Growing Your Bookkeeping Business Seminar and hold webinars to teach other bookkeepers how to grow a profitable bookkeeping business. I can't directly empower every small business owner in Australia but with over 500 licencees using the Pure Bookkeeping System I can reach many more than I could possible manage on my own.
