Work with faculty, students, and staff to establish and maintain a long-term vision for the department that is consistent with the college mission and vision. Responsible for the department's fiscal operations; develop and regularly monitor the department budget. Assures the institution collects and analyzes information on student retention, persistence, and completion of its programs. Recruit, appoint and supervise faculty. Recruit, appoint and supervise staff. Evaluate the institution to maintain and exercise authority over the prerequisites for courses, rigor of courses, expectations for student learning, access to learning resources, and faculty qualifications for all its programs, including dual credit programs.
