Georgie Fienberg

Georgie founded AfriKids in 2002 following five years of building trust, relationships and a deep understanding of the complex child rights situation in the Upper Eastern Region of Ghana.  AfriKids is a multi award winning partnership between AfriKids Ghana and AfriKids (UK) built to both treat the symptoms and root causes of child suffering and build large scale enterprises which are transforming the micro and macro economy. AfriKids runs 28 projects focused on child protection, child health and education and is renowned for its creative and sustainable solutions to complex child rights abuses. The organisation has won 11 international awards for its impact, transparency and focus on social enterprise. Georgie has pioneered AfriKids’ unique approach to sustainable development through social entrepreneurship and investment partnering.  AfriKids has turned over more than £12m including grants from the National Lottery, Comic Relief, DfID and the UN. It has run record breaking partnerships with a number of global companies including Deutsche Bank and Allen and Overy, specialising in ensuring the partnerships work as much for the corporate's brand, global staff engagement and HR development as it does for the charity. Georgie stepped down as CEO of AfriKids in September 2014 but continues to be a Trustee and is as fully committed to the organisation as ever.
