Led Amazon's Wedding Registry business as head of product starting in mid-2016. By December 2017, Barrons.com recognized Amazon Wedding Registry's unprecedented growth as the biggest and fastest-growing wedding registry in the $19B+ wedding gifts segment. Primary responsibilities: * Over $100M in P&L contribution into Amazon's broader Home & Kitchen business. * Lead initiatives spanning product, marketing, engineering, design, customer service. * Run program strategy/roadmap and grow registrations, basket size, and engagement across mobile and desktop. * Manage successful expansion of Wedding Registry's selection from traditional retail gifts to launch physical and virtual gift cards, experiences, cash & credit, and support for group gifting. * Define vision and secure resourcing for program expansion into non-wedding related registries, towards step-function increase in TAM and on track to increase program topline by 20% within 12 months of initial rollout.
I helped Toronto-area startups through consulting engagements on a fractional basis. I worked with technology leaders to level up their product teams with a broad skill set spanning design, QA, data analysis and project planning towards owning and delivering business objectives and technical projects. I also helped startup founders with market research and product strategy to go after specific, high impact segments with a targeted value proposition and messaging.
* Hired and developed the company's team of PM/QA/UX. Led the product function in an executive role for three years overseeing core product and multiple strategic product partnerships, ultimately growing the company's platform to 100M+ DAU and revenue growth from $0 to $1M+ ARR. * Launched the company's first product offering as a b2b2c commenting platform designed to integrate into news media websites' tech stacks. Lead POC for first marquee client (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Canada's largest news organization), built a strong working relationship and evolved the product suite to include complementary tools e.g. social sign-on, article liking and sharing -- helping secure contracts with Heard Media Group, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, GateHouse Media, SportsNet, the Irish Times, The Weather Network, Star Tribune and others. * Launched the company's newsroom offering, a big-data real-time audience engagement and predictive analytics system that identifies story trends in real-time, predicts the stories with the highest engagement potential and enables writers and editors to grow those stories' performance by engaging directly with readers. Migrated the platform's tech stack from PHP/MySQL to Java/Cassandra to enable support for real-time processing and predictive analysis of customer engagement signals on the world's largest media sites. * Led the introduction of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning models into the platform to reduce publishers' budget spend on community moderation while increasing the civility of online communities, resulting in a new line of revenue for the company.
Product management (tech) role. * Led a small program of PM/Eng./UX that launched role-based access control and single sign-on integrating the company's products across e-learning platform used by 1M+ drivers, fleet risk and course management controls used by fleet/risk managers, and business analytics modules used by executives to monitor program results. * Created and led the company's fleet risk monitoring, data model, and client-facing analytics program, to provide insight on driver risk scores, training coverage and risk categories, and leveraging network-wide performance to determine fleet risk and provide actionable next steps.
* Launched the company's new data model and database architecture spanning SCORM/AICC-compliant training data on 1M+ drivers, and built the production pipeline that migrated historical as well as live data into the new model and architecture with full redundancy and no downtime.
* Managed the company's e-commerce platform and data, and marketing promotional sites in support of seasonal product launches, in tandem with new Apple devices. Launched Google Analytics integration across the company's web properties and grew revenue by >20% YoY.
