Husain Kothari is the founder and investment manager of KIP Capital Management (KIP). He has been a serial entrepreneur, capital allocator and a value investor in the GCC region for 27 years. He is a passionate practitioner of the value-investing school of thought and philosophy. He deeply subscribes to investors like Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Howard Marks, Seth Klarman amongst others. He has spent over 45 years in the MENA region and is the co-founder and managing director of the Zahra Group. The Group, established in 1993, is a Kuwait-based integrated group of companies with investments in the hydrocarbon and financial sector. Husain’s areas of focus are new ventures, investment management and corporate finance. The Group’s oil and gas businesses have ranged from upstream oil and gas (E&P), engineering and construction, oilfield services and petrochemicals. Husain has led the founding of each of these ventures. For instance, he was the co-founder, shareholder-board member and the ex-CFO of Kuwait Energy (formerly ‘Zahra Oil and Gas’). He serves on several boards in the private and the non-profit sectors.
