Huy Nguyen

Huy Nguyen, currently, is a freelance consultant. Huy hold a PhD in environmental studies from Kyoto University with a focus on disaster risk management and climate change adaptation in 2010. He has 15 years experience working on the field of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, urban climate resilience, water resource management, and education in emergencies in various nations such as: Vietnam, Japan, Laos, Bangladesh, Marshall Islands and Cambodia. Before working as a freelancer, Huy worked for Institute for Social and Environmental Transition - International) as an urban climate resilience specialist from 2012-2016; as a disaster risk reduction specialist at UNESCO Vietnam from 2011-2012, and a lecturer at Hue University (2002-2006). During the last 15 years, Huy has been served as an international consultant for several development agencies, included:The United Nation – International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Finance Corporation (IFC), The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Oxfam GB, Care International, Plan International, Winrock International, Engility, Tetra-Tech, Norwegian Mission Alliance and the Embassy of Canada. Huy has published more than 20 journal articles, book chapters, and volume editions in the fields of environmental hazards, water resources management and climate change.
