Ivana Pilja Sokolov

Ivana Pilja is fashion designer and Graduate of the College Of Design in Belgrade, Serbia. Remaining faithfully devoted to futuristic aesthetics and geometrical solutions, Ivana champions her newest collection during AW13 London Fashion Week presentation. Unique motifs of Ivana’s collection were created in accordance with the ideas of entomological origin applied on sculptural shapes, distinctive for this designer. This young artist is still faithful to futuristic aesthetics and geometrical solutions now adapted to a specific pattern and its symbolism. This collection is a true example of a clear concept, of consistency and creative power in designed pieces, inspired by “true conceptual art”. SEMI SONG is Ivana's second collection, and like her first, she continues to be inspired by and loyal to the avant-garde aesthetic and life-style. Inspired by the Japanese cicada, locally named Semi - intriguing and intense, these weird little creatures are a direct representation of Ivana Pilja's new collection as she experiments in embracing new forms of costume.The all black colour palette was replaced by a diverse range of colors and prints to bring a strong connection to the uniqueness of the Semi cicada, the diversity of life, and evolution. Ivana won two awards for her first collection from ELLE Magazine and the second for the best designer of the season. Also a featured designer in Nathalie Grolimund's book Fast Forward Fashion: Where Fashion Defies Function, she is returning with a renewed vision and desire to continue pushing the boundaries of beauty and design. The prints were made in collaboration with illustrator Nada Serafimovic and are custom made for each model to reflect how each cicada's call is different and unique. Each piece is its own work of art crafted in the Ivana Pilja style that she has become loved and known for worldwide. Her costumes are worn by celebrities Paloma Faith and Skin from Skunk Anansie.
