Jack Hinton's past jobs
Ox Pak Ltd is a mountain bike accessory company.
Working at Subway I took on a variety of roles and responsibilities within the workplace. These ranged from food preparation, including keeping the shop clean and up to the very strict hygiene standards we had to adhere to. Other roles also included operating the till and handling cash deposits into the safe, and then counting the cash that had come into the store that day at the end of the shift and predominantly interacting with customers to give them the most efficient and satisfactory customer experience possible.
I worked as a general labourer and then during the grouse season, a grouse beater on the Invermark Estate. During the beating season we had to work as part of a large, twenty person team to achieve the goals of driving the grouse in the correct direction. Working on the estate gave me a whole new level of experience due to how different a working environment it was compared to previous roles I had held.
I worked promoting different charities to a wide variety of people in the hope of getting them to donate to the charities cause. I worked for charities such as Anthony Nolan, Save the Children and Cancer Research UK. I gained a vast amount of experience dealing with different and difficult kinds of people throughout this role.
I split my time at Decathlon between two main roles; Sports Advisor and Bicycle Workshop Technician. The sports advisor role consisted of helping customers choose the correct equipment for their needs, monitoring stock levels and ordering new stock as required and re stocking shelves so the customer always had a wide and varied stock range to choose from. When required I would also cover other departments including the tills where I had to often handle large amounts of cash. As a workshop technician my role was chiefly fixing broken of malfunctioning bicycles. I had to communicate with customers to get to the bottom of the technical issues, which was challenging as a lot of the customers did not have much knowledge of how a Bicycle Works. It also involved keeping in contact with other close by stores to send stock over at short notice to try and provide an efficient turn around for bikes coming into the workshop, to them leaving fully repaired.
In this role I had to operate relatively complex machinery to ensure that the gold balls came in off the range everyday, were cleaned and stored into the correct places so they were ready for the nect day of use
