Performed datacenter cutover with 15mm active users, described as “changing the engines on a 747 mid-flight”. Codified deployment for applications and infrastructure using Chef, and automated hardware provisioning using Basejump, which until then had been setup ad-hoc and had not been documented. Took part in the on-call rotation both monitoring systems and responding to incoming requests from engineering staff. Helped engineers migrate their projects from SVN to Git, provided training, and refactored build and deployment mechanisms accordingly. Deployed and managed multiple Cloudera Hadoop (CDH4) clusters in Amazon EC2 and migrated ETL jobs from a batch to a streaming setup using Flume. Architected and managed Ops projects as well as provided in-depth training and debugging assistance to anyone. Created multiple identical environments with [semi]automatic code promotion, environment setup, and role based access for engineers.
