As the CEO of Roark Gyms from February 2012 to September 2021, I founded and led the establishment of Cape Town's premier bespoke strength and conditioning facility. Over the years, I successfully expanded the business to encompass six locations, extending our footprint to Johannesburg and even crossing international borders to San Francisco. The foundation of Roark Gyms rested on a personalised coaching philosophy, setting us apart in the fitness industry. By limiting the number of coaches at each gym, we created an environment where every coach knew every member intimately. This approach allowed for true coaching, where success wasn't solely measured in performance but extended to encompass the well-being, health, and longevity of each client.

My academic journey began at the University of Cape Town, where I earned a BA LLB (Law and English) in an accelerated 5-year stream, culminating in December 2007—this dual degree equipped me with a multifaceted skill set, blending legal expertise with linguistic proficiency. I started my legal career as an attorney at Ward, Ward and Pienaar from January 2010 to December 2011, which laid a solid foundation for my legal acumen. During this period, I honed my skills in law and gained valuable insights that would later prove instrumental in my entrepreneurial ventures. Fueling my long-standing passion for holistic well-being, I also successfully completed an MSc. in Sports Management from Loughborough University in December 2009. This academic pursuit not only broadened my understanding of the sports industry but also set the stage for my transition from legal practice to the dynamic world of fitness and wellness. I still draw on the knowledge gained in the legal field, marrying it with insights from sports management to pioneer innovative solutions in the wellness industry.
