Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, Huppert Lab While studying in the Cell and Developmental Biology program at Vanderbilt University, I was a member of Dr. Stacey Huppert's lab which is devoted to investigating the role Notch signaling plays in liver development and disease using established mouse lines that have Notch signaling inactivated or constitutively active . A number of techniques were learned while studying in Dr. Huppert's lab including embryonic mouse dissection, embryonic in situ hybridization, embryonic immunohistochemistry, gel electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction, mouse embryonic stem cell culture, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, DNA isolation, cloning E. coli cells, reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, and restriction digests. I also aided in maintaining the mouse colony which required Working with IACUC training, Working with Mice in Research Settings Training, and Post-Procedure Care of Mice and Rats in Research: Reducing Pain and Distress Training.
