Executive coaching is for leaders who want things to be different. They are looking for a change or they have important goals to reach. They come to coaching in order to be more effective or more satisfied in life and work, they come to develop new skills to help navigate life changes. Sometimes they want more from life: more peace of mind, more security, more impact in their work. And sometimes they want less: less confusion, less stress, less financial pressure. In general, they come to coaching because they want a better quality of life—more fulfillment, better balance or a different process for accomplishing their desires. Whatever the Individual reason, it all starts with a stirring of motivation. As a Strata Leadership Certified Coach, I utilize the Co-Active Coaching model. Co-Active coaching assists the coachee in pursuit of fulfillment, balance and process toward a life fully lived. The individual being coached or “coachee” defines their personal vision, their core values and then works with the coach to identify strategies, behaviors and habits to pursue, attain and maintain that vision in reality. Executive coaching is designed to help leaders address specific professional issues and obstacles, but it is more than simply solving problems. It’s about people and helping coaching recipients in leading people. Effective executive coaching addresses the whole person: heart, mind, body and spirit. This is because work-related issues, whatever they are, are not neatly isolated to the workplace – they are inseparably entwined in the coachee’s whole life. That said, coaching is not psychological counseling. As a coach, I am a partner, advocate, encourager, resource and guide that is tuned in to the influences that are interconnected with the coachee’s life and the way an issue or topic is interwoven in their life. By facilitating transformative change in the coachee, the ripple effect can create transformation in organizations, relationships and families.
