Janis Galloway

Working across departments, I help communicate the benefits of dance to Albertans. I connect and collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and identify how ballet can best support them to build healthy, equitable and inspired communities through dance education, artistic creation and performing arts experiences. This includes working with local schools, social service agencies, artists, Alberta Ballet School alumni and corporate community investment teams to take actionable steps that can reduce inequalities for Albertans. My work also includes: • The development of a targeted, proactive communications and engagement strategy to connect with community organizations, local associations and dance schools. • Promoting the benefits of dance and the arts as drivers to advance the social determinants for health. • Key message development for impact reporting, media relations, fundraising and marketing. • Conducting research, collecting data to understand the impact of programming and identify opportunities to continually improve. Key Projects: • Welcoming Newcomers Program: As part of Alberta Ballet's commitment to inclusion and equitable arts access, I work with newcomer serving agencies to provide complimentary tickets to our performances. These experiences help new Canadians build social capital, relieve stress, and removes potential financial barriers they face while settling into their new home. • Discover Dance presented by Enbridge These free field trips inspire curiosity, learning and open up a whole word of possibilities for youth who may not typically have the opportunity to engage with performing arts. Schools with high populations of students and families who face socioeconomic barriers are given the highest priority to participate.
