Regional Sales Manager covering the West Coast + ID, NV, MT, and WY. Travel about 70% of the time out of state. Working to elevate the Proximity brand through in person meetings, phone calls, industry events, and collaborations. Coordinating the efforts of distributors in San Diego and Spokane to deliver a unified message as well as get product to customers within a competitive time frame.
Increased sales in my territory by more than 20% over 4 years in both equipment and consumables. Responsible for promoting the Gusmer line of products in the Beverage industry (Wine, Juice, Beer, Distilling, and Cider) in both Colorado and Oregon. Travel about 50% of the time, with about 30% being out of state. Generate leads and compile database information to sharpen focus and pitch to each client. Build up awareness of Gusmer Enterprises through sales calls, conferences, and presentations.
Work with businesses to troubleshoot their process and provide real enzyme solutions that make the job/process both easier and more efficient. Organizing meetings, conference calls, follow-ups, and more to maintain personal relations with customers. Established contacts through cold-calls, emails, or introductions to larger accounts where we aim for novel enzyme applications. This requires co-ordination/teamwork and travel with the Director of Technical Sales, VP of Business Development, and solo client visits. On the marketing side, I have been encouraged to further both the brewing and distilling campaigns with multimedia marketing strategies. This has led to several excursions to conferences, lectures, and area visits to further the goals of securing a large share of the grain processing market inside the North American market. These combined efforts have increased customers by more than 60% and sales in this area by more than 125%. Improvements in the grain area have led to more travel (upwards of 25% total time) as well as larger account responsibility. I am currently responsible for cultivating roughly a dozen accounts worth $250,000/year or more. Responsibilities have expanded with successes; brewing/distilling is encouraged for the short term conversions, while focus shifts to ethanol/starch processing for longer term conversions.
At Dale Bros the California steam beer strain of yeast is used to produce high quality craft beers that emphasize malt character over hops, contrasting the hop craze that is sweeping the nation. As an Assistant Brewer it was my job to do whatever needs to be done regarding creation or clarification of the beer, from brewing on down the steps to filtering the beer for a great finished product. At such a company "man of many hats" does not begin to do justice to the variety of odd jobs that need to get completed in a week, or even a day. With my additional help, the brewery increased output on their current system by 25-30%, and managed to streamline several processes to reduce the time input by anywhere from 10%-50%. These adopted systems managed to push Dale Bros. into a new phase of production efficiencies, and since they have gone on to enjoy stunning success in a new facility that will encourage further growth.
Assisted with the Beer, Wine, and Spirits course for all three quarters of the academic school year. Graded papers, created quizzes, chose food and wine pairings, even lectured on occasion. Had access to the wine cellar where wine styles conforming to the upcoming lecture needed to be chosen based on experience and expertise. This led to the idea of practically applying my area of study in biotechnology to alcohol related fields as a future career choice.
Worked as a caller to fundraise from Alumni for different projects or colleges at Cal Poly Pomona. Had to sell the school campus as a whole, sell nostalgia, essentially sell a feeling to solicit a donation. Encouraged higher donations from previous donors, and prospected for new donors.
