Jean Guillaume Peladan's current jobs
I joined Sycomore Asset Management in 2015 to build and implement the company's green investment strategy. Among others, this led to a Natural Capital strategy, to new green listed-equity products and to a science-based methodological approach dedicated to the finance sector. Launched in 2015, the global listed-equity fund, Sycomore Eco Solutions, has been the first financial product to get the French certification Greenfin in 2016. The methodology that has been initially developed for Sycomore Eco Solutions provides an impact-based measure of the alignment of a business model with the environmental transition and climate goals. In 2017, the methodology has been progressively improved, tested and extented to all types of companies and other asset classes, leading to a new advanced metric, the NEC for Net Environmental Contribution. In 2018, it has been fully deployed over our portfolios and benchmarks. In 2019, the NEC metric became fully transparent and open-source via the NEC initiative, a collaborative platform gathering financial actors and environmental experts. In 2020, Sycomore AM became a BCorp certified, mission-led company and the use of the NEC, as an investment criteria, was decisive to win the competitive tender organized by 10 European Institutional Investors for the management of a fund aligned with the Paris Agreement on Climate. In 2021, the NEC Initiative became a mission-led company with equity brought by 4 shareholders to develop and disseminate the NEC metric as an independent, science-based, transparent, international standard.
