Alcoa European Mill Products is one of the world market leaders in the production of high volume quality aluminum coils. As a member of the Production Department, I have carried out different activities mainly focused on the enhancement of the cold rolling process. Among the activities that I have performed are the following: 1) Define the working procedure and operational methodology along the process followed in each manufacturing line and machinery, and, 2) Analyze data about the processes in order to introduce improvement solutions in the production time and in the productivity of machinery. I have also collaborated with the Planning Department in the installation of ASPROVA MS Production Scheduling Software System, which contributes to improve productivity throughout the supply chain. I have been in charge of the plant relevant data acquisition, and the customization of the software addressed to the specific requirements of the production planning, with the final aim of automating the production orders of the heat rolling process.
I collaborated on one of the FP7 EU projects within the Energy, Cities and Territories Research Department. The main objective of this project was to develop a model that forecasts the residential energy demand at household level allowing to precisely determine and optimize the energy generation with a fairly realistic view. I was responsible for the conceptualization and behaviour modelling of the most common appliances and the technical development and simulation software implementation using Anylogic IDE tool.
Research activities being part of the Industrial Safety Unit developing the degree final project, which consisted on the technical implementation of an indoor positioning system. The goal of this project was to determine the precise localization of workers within the shop floor, in order to alert them when they are in a risky place. For this purpose, I developed a software tool in charge of the data capture coming from several Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) placed on workers’ bodies, the step pattern detection and the map visualization on a Labview development environment.
