Jenny Teo

Prior to becoming a CELTA-certified English language teacher, I was enjoying a 20-year career in the fields of business and corporate communications, marketing, and management spanning across private, non-profit and government sectors in the United States and Singapore. In addition to English being my native language, I’m also conversant in Mandarin, Teochew, and Singlish. Besides Istanbul, I’ve lived and worked in Singapore, Hawaii, New York and Florida. Being an avid traveler, I’ve been to over 35 countries all over Asia, Europe, North America and the Pacific. Since attaining my CELTA certification in 2013 at the British Council in Singapore, I have taught students from all over the world – from all walks of life and proficiency levels. I specialize in one-to-one, tailor-made Business English lessons; coaching on presentation, interviewing, email writing and general business communication skills; as well as conversational practice and speaking fluency. My current students, most of whom are high-level corporate executives working for some of the largest and most established companies, find it easy to relate to me when we share and discuss their Business English needs and concerns. As I myself have sat in those boardrooms and offices; held similar management positions; and grappled with the same business issues and challenges during my 20 years of corporate and management experience, my students are able to benefit from the realism, relevancy and authenticity that I bring to our lessons. Using a collaborative and consultative approach, we conduct a detailed needs analysis at the outset to discuss and identify specific needs. Then, we create a customized course plan that is both skills-based and results-oriented.
