As CEO I am responsible for scaling the company, bringing together different stakeholders and building a world-class team to realise this ambitious vision. As COO, I ran a 4000+ person $1bn+ organization covering all operational aspects of the company, including flight operations, technical operation, ground handling and several other disciplines as well as serving on the executive committee of the company. During my tenure we ran a safe and stable operation in accordance with the best standards in international aviation. We laid the foundation for Icelandair becoming one of the most punctual airlines in the world, ran significant cost reduction using both strategic restructuring and continuous improvement, achieved industry-leading employmee satisfaction metrics and ran significant initiatives to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction. In 2019-2021 the company went through some of its most challenging times during the COVID pandemic and we scaled down, retained all key competences and assets, refinanced the company and scaled back up, achieving a seamless re-start without any significant operational issues.
