April 2001, I was appointed to the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp Materials AG, later thyssenkrupp Services AG. From January 2002 I was additionally responsible for the North American operations of thyssenkrupp Materials N.A., being located in the US. With the establishment of thyssenkrupp Materials Europe GmbH on June 1, 2005, I took over as CEO and continued in this position after the company was renamed thyssenkrupp Materials International GmbH. From October 2006 to September 2009 I was Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp Services AG, where I was primarily responsible for strategic corporate development. One particular focus was establishing the aerospace and services business as core activities. This role as well included business actions in Asia which I was in charge of for several years, being temporarily based in Hongkong. Effective October 1, 2009 I was appointed CEO of the Materials Services Business Area Management Board and CEO of the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp Materials International GmbH, renamed thyssenkrupp Materials Services GmbH as of January 1, 2016.
