I am the safety & environmental coordinator and also working with lean manufacturing. I took over safety/lean in Jan. 2010 working in conjunction with being a Buyer. I had spent the last year in purchasing after moving over from being a floor supervisor. Take care of plant safety needs and training. Manage hazardous waste and files. Perform all needed safety and plant inspections. Perform accident investigations. Perform 5S audits. Lead Kaizen events and reporting of events. Help with assembly line layouts and improvements. Help impleminted Lean and ISO programs for the company and provided training for employees. Training covered 5S, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, OEE, Kaizen, etc. Worked with engineering and quality on customer complaints and root cause analysis. Served as a back up quality person to help perform product testing and managed the calibration program of testing equipment.
I started with GNB Batteries which was later bought out by Exide as a production worker and worked my way up to an Oxide plant operator. In 2000 I was selected and trained to be the first Lean Champion for the Kansas City Kansas location with a second position to be filled 6 months later. I worked under the direction of a company lean director and we were in charge of all lean training for employees. This included 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Waste Reduction, Value Stream Mapping, OEE, Root Cause, Poke Yoke, etc. We also led Kaizens in all departments, took care of the plants 5S auditing, Kaizen newspapers, open projects that came from the Kaizen events. Provide support to all departments in the efforts to remove waste from the facility and reach all measured Key Performance Indicator goals.
