New Star Asset Management: From Jan. 2006 until Feb. 2008, I was working as Investment Manager for New Star Asset Management – which was one of UK’s leading independent asset managers (now part of Henderson Global Investor, re-named Henderson New Star). I was part of New Star’s institutional investment team where I had focus on our Asian investments – both in our Global funds as well as in our GEM – and Asian funds. In New Star we had a bottom-up investment strategy where we focused on stock picking combined with a macroeconomic analysis at the country level. Within the Asian universe,
Jan. 2001 – Dec. 2005: BankInvest Asset Management: BankInvest Asset Management is Denmark’s third largest and fastest growing asset manager and specialised in global equities, bonds, structured products and venture capital. One of BankInvest’s focus areas was (is) GEM (both equities and bonds) products. I was part of BankInvest’s GEM team focused on Asian equities (as well as some part of developed Asia). I was focused on stock picking – very concentrated portfolios with relative few stocks. The investment strategy was very bottom-up focused combined with some macroeconomic analysis (primarily as part of risk control on the portfolio). The first half year with BankInvest I worked as a buy-side analyst before being promoted to portfolio manager. My performance (stock picking) for our GEM and Asian funds was very good. Furthermore I also had investment responsibility for a dedicated India & China fund (I was also the originator for this fund) and a dedicated Thailand fund.
