Startup of the Tesla Energy business in Australia as the first employee, and developed the energy business to over 150 employees in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan and Korea. Leading Tesla's Engineering team of 15 professional engineers in the APAC region, with key functions of sales, deployment, and service engineering for all Energy products and EV charging infrastructure in the region. Sales and deployment in the region of over 600MWh of energy storage, keynote being the largest battery in the world (100MW HPR project) as full technical lead for the Tesla EPC construction at 275kV including design, grid connection studies, commissioning, grid acceptance testing (Hold Point and R2) and customer acceptance testing. Close working relationship with South Australian Government on industry participation and knowledge transfer.

Technical Sales Manager in the APAC region: active projects in: Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan - direct management of wind engineers. Market penetration into new markets of Japan and Korea, and the local development of the business. Personal sales of $300m in APAC. Customer-facing sales and contract negotiation. Development of supply and O&M contracts, management of costs and tendering, direct negotiation with key component suppliers, and development of final customer pricing. Negotiation of subcontracts and EPC structures on a scope-split consortium basis and full-fronted wind farm turnkey basis. Independent contract negotiation Close working relationship with the product line to ensure detailed customer requirements are understood, and current and next generation machines optimised to reduce the cost of energy and maximise margin. Developed the "power of three" concept that was subsequently used for wind farm optimisation through application of multiple rotor types. Management of technical engineering for sales proposals, including wind engineering and site assessment, grid integration, construction, project management, and logistics. Communication of key Alstom technologies to customers and financiers, including detailed product presentations.

Principal Engineer for the wind developer Roaring 40s (JV between China Light and Power and Hydro Tasmania) starting their Melbourne office. Project development, contracting, construction, and operation of wind farms in Australia (450MW), China (600MW), India (300MW), and NZ (75 MW). Direct management of two wind and siting engineers in Melbourne, with technical mentoring of four other engineers in Tasmania. Project financing for 300MW of Chinese projects (Shandong, Jilin): $200m local Chinese debt (non recourse) 111MW Waterloo, South Australia (AU$195m) 168MW Musselroe, Tasmania (AU$250m). Wind prospecting, wind-resource evaluation, wind-monitoring program management, and meso-scale wind modelling. GIS-based development of turbine-specific wind-farm layouts (10+ wind farms in Australia and China). On-site turbine inspections, damage assessments, and repair development.

Project Engineer for onshore/offshore wind, and Key Account Manager for our major UK-based clients (BP, RES). Design and certification (blade specialist), including independent review of design, manufacture, structural/functional testing, loads, and power-curves. Owners engineer for onshore/offshore project construction. Technical member of the IEC 61400-23 blade-test working group (participation in standardisation committee meetings). Technical due-diligence reviews of: wind turbine design, and project energy/availability assumptions (for developers and banks). On-site inspections: turbine condition assessments, turbine damage inspections, and blade repair verification (over 20 on-site wind farm inspections in Europe, USA, China, and India). Member of several European Union Research and Development programs (OPTIMAT, UPWIND, blade damage tolerance). Detailed understanding of Vestas epoxy pre-preg, FBT (wood-carbon), LM-Glasfiber polyester wet-layup and injection blades, Siemens IntegralBlade® technology, and other blade manufacturers (NOI, SINOI, Euros, CTC).

Nepal rural wind turbine project, Kathmandu University, Nepal (six months). Awarded a $5000 development grant by STA travel.Joint development with Norwegian Technical University (NTNU) of a local small wind turbine (1kW) for use in rural areas of Nepal to IEC 61400-2.

Naval officer with 12 months of pilot training, flight test, engineering design, aircraft maintenance, and operational deployments in the APAC and Persian Gulf regions. Several roles including aircraft certification, new project acquisition and operational management. Team Leader Rotary Wing Australian Defence Force - DGTA, Australia (2002 to 2003). Team leader for a group of four responsible for structural integrity and type certification of the ADF fleet of 200 helicopters. Exchange with Japanese Navy. Logistics Manager (Seahawk) RAN - Naval Aviation Logistics Management, Austraila/US (2000 to 2002) - Design engineer and logistics manager for the Naval Aviation Systems Program Office in Nowra, Australia. Management of 16 staff and $12 million operational budget, providing structural engineering and logistic support for the Seahawk fleet (16 aircraft). Management of key suppliers (Sikorsky, and GE).
