Brought in new customers, presented at AFS Conferences, developed new products, created collateral materials and web content, achieved “first for company” NSF certified products. Worked out mathematics and co-developed software to develop and illustrate winding patterns for string wound filters. Also developed code to quickly identify gears for winding machines to achieve desired ratios. This was more than an engineering accomplishment-this was a significant sales enabler. For those unfamiliar with string wound filters, it can be helpful to understand that a lot of customers put a lot of stock in the appearance of string patterns, such as the number of diamonds, or the number of holes and whether those holes go straight down or spiral. New software I co-developed enabled any pattern to be visualized and gear ratios were easily determined. This increased production capacity and efficiency because there had been a set of machines deemed unusable for manufacturing certain common filters; these machines can now be effectively utilized. This technological advancement also helped to bring in two new, significant and large customers where we previously had difficulty matching a competitor's filter pattern as required by the customer. Created pricing configurator software which reduced quoting time. I also created Excel code that could accept a list of a chief competitor’s filters and cross it - and price it-in seconds. This culminated in receiving a list for approximately 300-500 crosses - this was the opportunity I had been pushing with the target customer, and that I had been anticipating and getting ready for. Crossing and pricing hundreds of parts took a few seconds instead of a week or more. Result: roughly doubled sales to that customer - roughly $400k increase in sales.
