CHEER is a well-respected charity based in Surrey which has been helping people in the Elmbridge community for over 65 years. Our mission through our free services is to alleviate financial hardship for the over 60s and reduce social isolation of those who are lonely or housebound. We aim to help our clients lead full, dignified and independent lives in their own homes. In normal circumstances, much of our involvement is through visiting people in their homes, helping with benefits applications, and bringing them together for social interaction; whilst Covid restrictions remain in force, contact is maintained through regular telephone and video calls. Instrumental in: reforming and rebalancing the Board with recruitment of new trustees with the right mix of skills and experience; implementing the use of a dynamic business plan, risk register and performance appraisals; improved stakeholder communications and ethos based on teamwork; enabling staff to work remotely through the implementation of a robust, secure managed service infrastructure; growing our network of over 50 trained volunteers; building a growing network of partner organisations; a doubling of fundraising income from different sources.
