The objective of the Early Warning Europe EWE is to support entrepreneurship and development of small and medium enterprises across Europe. The most important task of EWE is to develop a system, which shall assist companies from all sectors in facing challenges, crisis managements and taking advantage of the second chance in case of failure. Under the project, company owners will have and opportunity to obtain discreet assistance and consultations with other experienced entrepreneurs - mentors and experts in numerous domains. Any entrepreneur, whose company is in distress or who sees first signs of potential difficulties, may join the EWE. The project is implemented jointly by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) and Family Companies Foundation (FFR) www.ffr.pl/ewe. Entrepreneurs may apply: www.parp.gov.pl/ewe Consultant - PARP- plays the role of “a general practitioner”, diagnosing the cause of the problem. The outcomes of the work with the Consultant may include: - diagnosis and solution of the problem, - guidelines and referring the entrepreneur to a restructuring advisor, work with a mentor or other expert Mentor – Family Companies Foundation The roles of mentors in EW project are played by experienced entrepreneurs, running their own companies. For entrepreneurs: • Voluntary support of experienced entrepreneurs • Discreet relationship with a consultant and mentor, who carries out the process of change The first country to undertake comprehensive action to support entrepreneurs in distress was Denmark, where the EWE project has been implemented for more than 10 years. On average, the companies covered by EWE support retained 72% of their revenues and 72% of employment. The consortium implementing the project comprises 15 organisations from 7 countries - Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Italy, Greece and Spain. The ultimate objective of the EWE project is to cover all European Union Member States with its activities.
