I am a contributor and advisor of Urban AI, a think tank dedicated to the emerging field of 'Urban Artificial Intelligence'. It is providing applied research case studies on the spatial, economic and environmental sustainability of cities. Urban AI's work follows three primary streams: research, education, and events & content (that I am mainly contributing to).
The research explores rhythm as a new methodology for policymaking, which aims to enhance the sharing of culture for social resilience in neighborhoods. With residents, civil servants and creative industries participating, physical and data rhythms are analyzed and designed in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The research group aims to work with several data sources and analytical methods, and to make bridges with ethnographic research techniques, in order to better recognise, represent and approach the multiple layered experiences in cities. The consortium engages University of Amsterdam, Delft University of Technology, Amsterdam Zuidoost City Borough (Stadsdeel Zuidoost) and Amsterdam Statistics Bureau (OIS). The international data partner is Habidatum. A special online platform supports the research.
Selected by several universities to oversee the final thesis qualification for their Masters Programs: 1. Higher School of Economics: 'Prototyping Future Cities'. The program's goal is to train the leaders of future cities who will manage urban development in the age of digital transformation and global challenges. 2. Far Eastern University: 'DA | Digital Art'. The program trains artwork authors for the new markets of the digital Experience Economy. 3. ITMO University: 'Innovation Entrepreneurship: Creative Industries'. Focusing primarily on the industries of fashion and culture tech, new media, design innovation, and sustainable construction, the program prepares professionals who have theoretical, aesthetical, ethical, and business visions of creative industries.
Habidatum is a team of data scientists, economists and geographers operating an in-house built data platform and working as an analytics partner for real estate investors, lenders and insurers. We aggregate location data from a variety of sources (inc. mobile phone data, travel times, spending, sentiment), build estimates and scores based on them, and collaborate with clients to integrate these metrics into their risk and pricing models. I am the company's co-founder and Vice-President, focused on interactions with customers, partners and investors, as well as overseeing product development.
