Brigadoon Village is a year-round recreational facility that offers camp programming to children and youth living with a chronic illness, chronic condition or special need, including: Crohn's & Colitis/IBD, cancer, celiac disease and bereavement. On the request of the Board Chair I stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director from the Board of Directors for 6-month term, while supporting the Board of Directors with the search and on-boarding of new executive director. Once the new ED was appointed I resumed governance volunteer duties with the Board and the Capital Campaign Committee. Provided nonprofits with innovative business solutions that enhanced client efficiency and effectiveness.
Ranked as one of Canada's best universities, StFX is well known for its quality academics, beautiful residential campus, 95% student satisfaction, and the most engaged alumni. Portfolio scope included professional team development and performance management, student satisfaction and retention, domestic and international recruitment and admissions for new students, athletics and recreation services, financial aid and scholarships, health and counselling services, students with disabilities services, student life (including Aboriginal, LGBTQ, Mature and Black Advisors), residence life and services, campus food services, campus safety and security, human rights and equity, financial management, senior university administration team While at StFX, I guided the Student Services Directors to become innovative and integrated in their work, while expanding the quality of programs and supports to every student in spite of the growing financial pressures experienced across the institution. This work - including significant change in operational alignment, evidence-based management, education and support services to all students, marketing and communications, student community code of conduct, and campus safety and security operation - enabled StFX University to deliver a more enriched student life experience. During my four-year tenure the results show a 95% student satisfaction rating; the 2011-2012 incoming class is historically the largest; the Ontario recruitment results grew more than 40%; food service ratings improved from a D to C+ (Globe and Mail rating); unprecedented student retention/applications for campus residence intake; while student volunteerism and charitable fundraising achieved record levels. As vice-president, I maintained a high level of engagement with students, faculty, staff, alumni, members of the Board of Directors, and the local community to achieve the strategic and operational goals within the portfolio and for the broader institution.

Scope of responsibilities included strategic and tactical plans for the annual employee workplace fundraising campaign with over 5000 volunteers, multi-stakeholder management, major gifts program, and planned giving development. The 2006 campaign increased 9.6% YOY; its highest level in 5 years.
The Tim Hortons Foundation Camps (formerly the Tim Horton Children's Foundation) was established in 1974 by Ron Joyce, Co-Founder of the Tim Hortons chain, to honour Tim Horton's love for children and his desire to help those less fortunate. The Foundation is a charitable organization committed to providing a fun-filled camp environment for children from economically disadvantaged homes. Portfolio scope: internal champion of corporate social responsibility; marketing programs; communications with corporate teams and system franchisees; media and marketing; team motivation and performance management; funds development strategy (Camp Day); client satisfaction and retention; domestic and international recruitment and admissions; residence life and support services; youth leadership program; scholarships; community sponsorship partnerships; foundation standards development; food services; safety and security; financial management; Board of Directors and various volunteer teams; foundation related organizational change management (Tim Hortons and Wendys merger roll out; capital construction of Kentucky and Ontario camp resorts) During my tenure, the annual Camp Day Campaign grew 300% ($5.6 million from $1.4 million), coin box donations increased 400% ($4 million from under $1 million), while golf tournaments netted over $1 million (over 200% growth in a 5 year period). Additionally, the THCF benefited from the growth in memorial funds, majors gifts, corporate donations, gifts-in-kind, and third party events. During the period of 1996 to 2003, the Foundation experienced growth in revenue/donations, $25 million capital installation and expanded the number of local communities served while benefiting from the Tim Hortons system expansion of 1,000 stores to over 2,000. The exponential growth in the THCF required a higher level of operational oversight and accountability, donor stewardship and fund management, and focused internal and external marketing and communications.
The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity focused on community support and development. The aim is to provide every individual in our community with opportunities for personal growth, community involvement, and leadership. As one of the largest charities in North America, the YMCA of Greater Toronto helps over 400,000 people each year through its core programs. Senior leadership/management for the Children's Services Unit; included: residential and day camping for over 20,000 participants; youth leadership, curriculum research and development for 500 childcare centers; transformation and capital construction at Camp Pine Crest; and lead the creation of the first YMCA adventure education center and YMCA Adventure Trips. Other: senior association management; fund development campaigns; international youth representative at YMCA World Alliance (Geneva, Switzerland); and various national and regional advisory boards.
