Inaugural director of strategy, accountable for driving all aspects of the institute’s agenda from inception to execution. In direct collaboration with the executive director (ED), responsible for the management of a broad portfolio of internal and external engagement and strategic initiatives; ensuring that they align with VT's broader mission and goals. Senior advisor to the executive director and member of the leadership team, this strategic and facilitative role is responsible for oversight of the institute’s executive administrative personnel, communications, and education & outreach. Strategic Planning & Implementation - Collaborates with the senior advisory leadership team to prioritize opportunities and facilitates key strategic initiatives to ensure that milestones are reached - Scans environment for opportunities to innovate programming & cooperative partnerships. - Develops roadmaps for growth & development of new and existing programs and service centers. - Examines processes & procedures; redefines as needed to maximize efficiency & reduce redundancies. - Oversees project management functions, ensuring project teams are effectively led & supported. - Responsible for the management & oversight of end-of-year reporting processes. Relationship & Project Management - Assists the ED in relationship management with key internal & external stakeholders. - Serves as a key partner to ensure the smooth implementation of critical initiatives. - Identifies ways to creatively identify cohesive & balanced approaches to pressing issues. - Supports the needs of the scientific staff in their ability to raise critical issues with the ED. Communications With responsibility over & in collaboration with communications team, ensures that: - Communication efforts reflect the strategic goals & priorities of the institute; ladder-up to VT's strategic direction. - Key messages are tailored on behalf of the ED. - Communications accurately reflect the ED’s position .
