I worked in the laboratories of Drs. Aileen Anderson and Brian Cummings at UC Irvine's Stem Cell Research Center. In Dr. Anderson's lab I worked on creating, optimizing, and standardizing the isolation protocol for new human neural stem cell lines in a cGMP setting. I have worked on additional projects including understanding how host immune system molecules affect post-injury transplanted stem cells and locomotor recovery of the host. In Dr. Brian Cummings' lab, I worked on growing human brain organoids of different Alzheimer's phenotypes to use as in vitro model of neurotrauma to investigate neurodegenerative events observed post-trauma in the human brain. The various Alzheimer's phenotypic organoids gave a detailed analysis of the cellular degradation events following injury and potentially lead to therapeutic targets.
