Currently I develop the vision and strategy roadmap to drive technology innovations and R&D initiatives across our technological landscape, systems engineering and architecture, information security, and business processes. In this role, I drove technology best practices in alignment with the company's short and long-term objectives and guided the technical architecture and compliance practices in all areas. I created formalized DevOps team processes, procedures, and operating model to ensure consistency across teams. • Facilitated training, mentoring, and skills development on DevOps and Cloud best practices across engineering and leadership teams.

For this company I continuously developed and maintained the enterprise software architecture and directed the global DevOps team of 50 across 12 countries in system integrations, consolidations, and automation projects. I guided the team in the automation of the entire infrastructure stack, source control management, global monitoring, and public/private cloud management. • Consolidated 26 source control platforms into single Gitlab Cluster and over 50 monitoring tools into Zabbix and Graylog. • Evangelized DevOps operations across organization through implementation of continuous improvement processes, technical reviews, best practice tools, and emerging technology. • Strengthened global team performance by conducting one-on-ones, performance reviews, training plans, continuous coaching, disciplinary actions, and establishing a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

I drove the unification of IT groups across multiple regions into a single Global IT Organization. • Created the Architecture Review Board consisting of 45 lead engineers and organized a Global Information Technology Manifesto. • Partnered with Risk Management to prioritize global architecture and develop global IT standards.

This group was also known as the IT DevOps team. I was fortunate to be in the company of 22 truly talented engineers from 6 countries (US, Switzerland, Spain, UK, Ukraine, Mexico). We primarily maintained Pivotal Cloud Foundry. We also managed the Open Source Cloud Foundry, databases (MySQL in Bosh, Postgres and Mongo with Ansible), Redis, RabbitMQ, Concourse, Red Hat Satellite, Ceph, for a moment OpenShift/Openstack, ELK, Prometheus, Sonarqube, Jenkins, GitLab, the Atlassian Suite, and Ansible Tower. Additional exposure to network devices ASA, Cisco ACI, F5, Palo, and Fortinet (and automation around those devices) A lot of what we did was in code. It makes things easier for us and especially working with cloud technologies it enabled us to stay up to date with modern devops practices. I of course did normal manager-y work like regular 1:1's, managing pager rotation (and being on 24/7/350ish), traveling to see them, and just trying to help decimate blockers for the team.

The goal of this group was to create a technical board for reviewing architecture before solutions are deployed in IT. The group consisted of what were essentially lead engineers (we called them "technical advocates") and they had the opportunity to be involved with the architecture design and review process. We spent a decent amount of time in this role just organizing how the team worked, as well as the data center consolidation / hybrid cloud project, and trying to drive conclusions to global organizational problems.

My role was a lead for the PCF environment and it's supporting services. I led the deployment of the databases (Mongo and Postgres deployment with Ansible), and helped support the overall platform. We had an influx of new Junior team members who had never worked with the platform before so a major priority was to give them as much exposure as possible to the really senior stuff we had to take care of. I believe in grabbing co-workers for 4-eyes so we were constantly on Teams and working through problems together. This team had an amazing work dynamic and comradary. If I could say there was a major focus; it was automation. As much as possible and in every way I could. Infrastructure as code, Infrastructure as cattle, and fail fast were mantras we lived by.
