ISS-Above is a neat little gadget that lights up whenever the International Space Station is nearby and also displays live video from the ISS to an attached TV. It makes any TV Mission Control for the ISS. I ran two successful Kickstarter campaigns and there are now in excess of 1700 units installed worldwide in homes / schools / science centers. I now also have a Space Act Agreement with NASA Johnson Space Center and I'm a member of the Space Station Explorers (part of NASA CASIS). The ISS-Above uses a Raspberry Pi Single Board Computer to do it's mathematical computations and the code is written using the Python programming language. The bottom line is. I Built That!!

A member of the Community Advisory Board for the UCI Center for Citizen Peacebuilding since 2006.
As part of this volunteer program I conduct public outreach presentations on behalf of NASA/JPL on numerous subjects. My focus is primarily on insipiring awareness of space programs and appreciation of the wonderful sights to be had if you can just Look Up.
I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to become a part-time planetarium lecturer for the Griffith Observatory. This was always a short-term assignment for me - however a very enjoyable one as it allowed me to do something I enjoyed immensely in any case (that is share my passion for space/astronomy with the public). Oddly enough.. this was during the four year period when the observatory was closed for massive renovations between 2002 and 2006. I was one of three part-time staff who were employed to run the "mini-planetarium" that was built close to the LA Zoo to allow the continuation of school shows.
The OCA is the largest amateur astronomy club in the USA with over 900 members. During my tenure as the president I brought a focus of technical innovation including the re-design of the clubs web site into a content managed article driven system. I also supported the development of numerous technology additions at the clubs observatory near Anza,CA including the weatherstation/camera, on-site Wifi and satellite uplink to allow remove observing / control of member observatories.
