NurExone is developing a revolutionary treatment for the reversal or reduction of paralysis following Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) using Exosomes (membrane-bound extracellular vesicles). This technology, assuming success in clinical trials (so far successfully proven in animal study), can be used to treat various conditions such as SCI, BTI (Brain Trauma Injury) and potentially other brain and neurological indications.

This project is central to developing a tail-anchor protein based platform for the production of customised liposomes suitable for drug delivery applications. Tasks and methodology: 1. Prepare proteoliposomes containing TA-chimeras using detergent based reconstitution, microwave and ultrasound approaches. 2. Explore the use of “click-chemistry” to derivatise liposomes. 3. Use spontaneous insertion of TA-chimeras to derivatise preformed liposomes. 4. Investigate the effect of TA-chimera incorporation on drug loading and liposomes stability. 5. Analysis of liposomes incorporating TA-chimeras in a cell culture model.
