TPG Media are a full service media agency, incorporating strategy, planning, buying and creative solutions. Specialising in providing ROI to clients through media solutions by getting them in front of the right audience. As Account Manager my role is to put together full media solutions for clients. I work as the primary contact for the clients as well as planning and buying media on their behalf. This involves planning (strategic, financial and creative) to design a campaign tailored to the specific needs of the client. I liaise with media owners to negotiate new media solutions and secure the best position at the best price for my clients. Throughout the process I ensure that results are monitored and optimised through ongoing reporting, and generally project manage from initial briefing through to post campaign analysis. The UK media landscape is constantly changing and I ensure that I stay up-to-date in all developments so that my clients always have the best options in the market. Working at a niche agency I consider my strengths to be service; experience and my passion for ensuring my clients long term success.
During my time at EMAP I worked across a wide portfolio incorporating; sponsorship, events, print and digital solutions. I negotiated directly with clients, building relationships and researching new markets. This was a challenging role where it was important for me to multi-task and prioritise between competing demands. A vital part of the job was the ability to to create lasting relationships both with customers and agencies so that I could fully understand their needs and work together closely to achieve them. I have experience of putting together bespoke multimedia campaigns working alongside our editorial and production teams. It was a pressurised, vibrant and exciting environment in which to work - where my ability to juggle competing priorities, work independently, plan ahead and problem solve was put to the test on a daily basis. I enjoyed the balance of commercial, creative and strategic elements of this role.
I worked selling local fruit and vegetables door to door. In this way I had to rely on my ability to communicate effectively in order to make a sale. It was challenging as it was entirely based on new business generation; though I found that I was capable of quickly building a rapport with the customer, through clear communication and listening to their requirements I could leave with a sale. This was a high pressured position as I worked on 100% commission with no base wage however I was very successful in this role, won an award for best salesman and offered a promotion.
IIZUKA asked me to help them with setting up a new support system alongside other general administrative tasks. I edited pieces of writing, ran the customer support system, learnt basic software design and undertook an in-depth market research project sourcing new business leads. I was also involved in updating and organising much of their business data and concluded in setting up an entirely new database.
I worked in this position for three consecutive summers. Alongside the communications team I helped to organise the graduation ceremonies at Birmingham Town Hall. In this role it was important to be able to think on my feet, problem solve quickly and efficiently as well as being able to work well with a team in order to ensure the entire event ran smoothly.
The Magic Breakfast is a charitable organisation that provides a free breakfast to primary school children in underprivileged areas of the UK. I was paid to design a recipe book they were producing to encourage parents to cook healthy meals for their children, which would in turn help to raise money for the schools in running the project.
