I come from a rural community located more than 3 hours from the closest University I decided to start Urglobal in 2016, this was after making the decision to resign from full-time employment, leaving the mining sector after 10 years in Johannesburg, relocating to the Eastern Cape and focus on rural development through ICT and entrepreneurship skills. Urglobal's mission is rural transformation through community engagement strategies primarily focused on bridging the ICT gap that exists between rural communities and the global community. In 2017, the company introduced an initiative called The Mobile Laptop Classes in rural schools. Through this initiative, we have been able to train more than 300 people in rural communities from students between grade 4-9, teachers, ward committee members, entrepreneurs and community members teaching them how to use computers. We have recently been MICTSETA accredited with end-user computing and IT technical support, and we aim to drive accredited technology training, ensuring that rural communities do not get left behind. The critical stakeholders for engagement are the: • Department of Education and Municipalities • School Principals and teachers • School Governing Body Members • Students • Rural leaders (chiefs, Head Men and Ward committees) and community members • Higher Education Institutions • Corporates
