Work spans on many backend features, right from Customer req/RFE stage to writing design and user tutorials, data modeling and performance optimization. Some such features include: * Design and implement network Device Profiles, Interface Maps - an elegant and optimal way to onboard new devices into AOS * Write the SDK software for customers to easily CRUD data resources into AOS sysdb(proprietary distributed database with publish subscribe) * Vendor agnostic port setting semantics modeling for easier and homogenized device onboarding * Data model and backend for users to express various vendor supported features on devices in AOS * Configuration rendering for Cisco, Arista, Cumulus and other AOS supported vendor-specific port settings and features for two-stage-L3Clos topologies * Seamless upgrade infra for device profiles and interface maps in Apstra’s scalable distributed system database across AOS releases. * Various API(includes various APIs for AOS like device profiles, interface maps, virtual networks etc.) optimizations in the backend using Python Lollipop, GraphQL. * Consistent collaboration with UI team(cross-geographical) to have the UI elements ready for all responsible features * Overall understanding of Apstra’s device agents, telemetry, IBA and RCA backend. * Reservation manager support for the in-house system test infra to efficiently reserve and release topologies used by the team
- Extensive user-space software development for network analytics on Cisco NXOS, Arista EOS, Cumulus Linux platforms. - Data modeling for various network telemetry like FIB, RIB, LLDP, BGP, ARP etc. - Store and retrieve data using Kafka, Cassandra to achieve effective distributed system principles. - Performance optimization of multi vendor agents in the context of data homogenization. - Collaborate with UI/UX team to build the initial designs of network automation telemetry - Proactive technical involvement in setting up labs, solving infrastructure related issues, development on virtualized and physical network gear.
Business group: Data center virtualization. *Develop and maintain embedded Linux firmware code for the Converged Network Adapter(CNA) which is a crucial part of the Unified Computing System. *Write Firmware level C programs to adhere to the PCIe standards, implement and support proprietary and standardized L2/L3 protocols (like VxLAN overlay, RoCE/RDMA, PXE boot), VNtag etc. *Implement and improve software support for various ASIC specific features for the MIPS based CNA. *Server and network virtualization network performance optimization for various generations of VIC adapter.
*Worked on the Cisco VIC adapter in the UCS server. *Derived a high level understanding of server virtualization in data centers and role of VIC adapter in UCS. *Working closely with the firmware group, my work involved the understanding of the network interface virtualization protocol(NIV) which runs between the Nexus switch and the adapter and developing a tool to capture low level message stats.
*Project- "Efficient Routing Algorithm for Optical WDM networks" *Research Advisor- Prof. Balakrishnan *Center- Multimedia Networks Lab, Super Computing Education and Research Center. *Skills- C, Network protocols (BGP, WDM), Linux, Application of algorithms in networks.
