I was heading my own 4 years NFR NANO2021 grant "nanoAUTOPHAGY - health implications of nanoparticle-induced changes in autophagy". The focus of this project was how exposure to nanoparticles can affect autophagy, an important cellular clearance pathway important for overall cellular health. The project also included funding for a PhD student. I was responsible for project design and management, interpretation of data and supervision of the PhD student. I was also responsible for the long-term project planning, writing grant proposals and scientific papers. The PhD student finished on time in Sept 2021.
I was heading a subproject of the NANO2021 grant "NANOCAN, Biodegradable Nanoparticles in Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy". The focus of this project was the molecular mechanisms underlying the cytotoxic effects of nanoparticles. I was responsible for project design and management, interpretation of data and the daily guidance of a postdoc and a technician.
