Their properties can be harnessed for industrial use such as production of biofuels or novel therapeutic applications. The bioproduction of such high-value-added products relies on the process of industrial fermentation using renewable resources as raw materials. Engineering of microorganisms brings some answers to the global challenges of the planet: reduction in fossil resources, combatting pollution.
