Mark Herbst's current jobs
President & Chief Executive Officer (January 2015-Present) President, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer (March 2010-December 2014) The SuperTurbo™ is a driven turbocharger that has a mechanical transmission that links the turbo shaft to the engine which enables power transfer to and from the turbo shaft that is not possible with a normal turbocharger. The SuperTurbo provides a direct efficiency benefit to all internal combustion engines whether they are gasoline, diesel or natural gas. Direct fuel efficiency benefits are provided through turbo-compounding and reduced over fueling during transients. Greater control over the charge entering the engine decreases particulate and NOx emissions and provides the ability for exhaust gas bypass directly to aftertreatment for cold start and thermal management. By providing low end torque and elimination of turbo lag, the SuperTurbo enables engine down speeding of 200-300 RPM and engine downsizing of 2 liters. The company’s focus is on Class 4-8 commercial and construction vehicles. > Closed on over $40 million of investment. Private Equity sponsored by Elliott Management Company. > Established strategic direction for commercial vehicle market focus and corresponding product development resulting in a SuperTurbo that supports engines ranging in size from 7-16 liters with 90% component commonality. > Completed Should Cost study with FEV to validate SuperTurbo economics and value proposition. > Defined path for durability to full commercialization and engaging with 3rd Parties including Ricardo to complete these series of steps. > Executed collaboration agreement with Allison Transmission to co-develop a vehicle demonstrator to demonstrate a solution for engine down speeding. > Responsible for business development with Tier 1 Automotive Strategics, turbocharger, powertrain and transmission manufacturers, in North America, Europe and Asia as viable production partners, investors or acquirers.
