Martin Sansom's past jobs
"Captain" of the Marketing Power Team at BPN. Responsibilities included: arranging bi-monthly meetings, coordinating marketing strategy for the chapter, assigning tasks, tracking results, planning marketing budget, brainstorming new ideas, and just generally keeping a handle on everything! Which has been easy as I work with a top-notch crew. Our major focus is on marketing BNI, and this chapter in particular, to area business owners. Previously held this position from March 2009 to September 2010, and again from October 2011 to September 2012.
As Treasurer, I handled dues collection, accounting, and banking for the chapter. As Secretary, I took and then dispersed weekly meeting notes to help our members keep each other top of mind for referrals. I also handled the Speaker Series Coordinator role during this time, which involved maintaining an accurate schedule of keynote speakers for our meetings.
Helped new members acclimate to the BNI process, and become successful parts of our chapter. Also helped long-term members achieve their Key Success Factors, when needed. Held monthly meetings to help the team captains focus on particular issues that we wanted to excel at doing in our chapter. Prior positions held in BPN: Marketing Coordinator (2008) Secretary/Treasurer (2007)
On the IT side, I managed a 24/7 shift of computer operators for the bank's mainframes (both Unisys/MISER and IBM/Jack Henry - but not at the same time), ensuring that the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly processing was done correctly, reports printed and delivered, backups backed up, and countless other essential yet oft-overlooked tasks. On the Telecom side, I managed vendor contacts, contracts, and billing for a 30+ branch network of telephone systems and data lines, as well as the 400-some-odd telephones themselves. While in Operations, I was part of a team that handled an ATM network of 100+ units, and was heavily involved in projects such as introducing the debit card, Y2K conversion, and oh so much more. I worked directly with all levels of the organization from front-line to upper management on a daily basis, worked out of 8 different offices (no joke), yet managed to keep the same parking spot for 15 years.
Handled casework for personal injury, workmen's comp, and medical malpractice cases, including client and witness interviews, investigation of injury sites, medical records retrieval, and so on. Learned that, despite my pre-law emphasis in college, I actually had no desire to become a lawyer.
