I founded the company in 2005, came up with the patented invention of the global federation of routers who share WiFi and the concept that if you share WiFi at home you can roam the world for free connecting to other people who do the same. Fon has grown to be the largest WiFi network in the world. As of January of 2014 we had 12.3 million active hotspots. Our investors are a phenomenal global group including Google Index Atomico Sequoia Microsoft BT DT and lately Qualcomm.
In 1998 I started Jazztel, now Spain's second largest publicly traded telecom operator.
I founded Viatel in 1990 on the back of Call Back, an invention of mine that allowed international phone calls to be routed via the USA. In 1996 I came up with the idea of building the first privately owned Pan European fiber optic network. Overall invested $200K in the company and when I sold my shares in 1999 Viatel was worth $1.2bn
