The Graduate Nurse Education demonstration project is an intervention designed to expand the clinical training opportunities for advanced practice registered nursing students. The overall goal is to increase the supply of APRNs, thus meeting the demand for care presumed to rise as a result of health care reform. The project responsibilities include designing and implementing mixed methods processes and collates the outcomes, evaluations, and reports to Congress. Working on this project included comprehensive reviews of each area processes, implementation of software workflows and tools included, but not limited to compliance, affiliation contracts, management on visas, educational, and immunization compliance for overseas students. Working with eligible hospitals, community practices may receive reimbursement for the reasonable cost of providing clinical training to APRN students. This project required managing eligible hospitals and coordinating with academic and provider entities to provide clinical training for students in the following four APRN specialties. This project required creating a formal collaborative written partnership agreements with schools of nursing, health centers, rural and non-hospital practices.
