Matthew Urquiza's current jobs
I currently provision and de-provision Virtual Machines using VMWare Vsphere. I log into our local and remote Cisco managed switches to make necessary changes ie. turn ports on/off, change port descriptions, make port range changes, add or remove ports to different VLANS, etc. I make NAT entries for the public-facing and DMZ VM's while also creating and changing existing firewall rules to allow specific access to specific ports on our ASA's. I continue to manage and make changes on our DHCP and DNS server, I'm also beginning to work more with the company SQL databases/tables and connecting specific tables to our in house software.
I catered primarily to small and medium-sized businesses that didn't have in-house IT. I managed contracted client endpoints with both Datto and Kaseya VSA RMM software. This allowed me to patch, backup, and have remote access in a single dashboard for all tenants. I also offered a basic break and fix model where noncontracted clients could hire me on an hourly basis. Types of services I would offer were any server issues, cloud or local backups, patch servers, remote support, migrate email from one host to another, deploy new workstations, install endpoint protection antivirus.
Matthew Urquiza's past jobs
During my employment at QuickFix I would handle clients both in-store and onsite. A few onsite services I would perform would be deploying new workstations, joining workstations to client's domain, creating/editing users in AD and adjusting permissions, configuring SMB scanning from a network copier to client's server, redundant backups ie raid/cloud. Then the majority of in-store services would be diagnosing problematic computers. Other services would include tuning up computers, upgrading hardware, building custom desktops, configuring outlook, etc. Giving me a rounded experience in catering for both our residential and business customers.
I held two positions during my employment here. MT Easy Tech Expert which was their lead in the Business Machines department (technology side). This position required me to boost both technology and computer services sales. I would also assist the Sales Manager with employee training to drive sales and attach services. I was also responsible for training technicians to deepen their knowledge of computer repair. During my employment, I was able to increase computer service sales by 300%.
I originally started out as a Firedog Technician, then promoted to Lead Technician, and finished off my employment as Technology Supervisor. As a Supervisor, I ran the computer sales department, video/camera department, and Firedog computer services department. I personally was responsible for training employees to make sure they were aware of their numbers and how they could perform at a higher level. I too participated in sales and lead by example while also having to continue working as a computer technician. I would open and close the store and made sure closing cash drops were properly counted and verified.
